Your initial naturopathic consultation will range from 1 hour to 1.5 hours and will include:
Taking a Full Case History - this involves discussing all the symptoms you are experiencing in detail. You will then be asked questions in relation to the main body systems including gastro intestinal (digestion and elimination), nervous system (stress, sleep and mood), musculoskeletal (muscle/joint pain), reproductive health and so on.
Nutritional Assessment - we are very focussed on complete nutritional assessment which incorporates clinical assessment (physical observation/signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiency) together with biochemical assessment (pathology reports), dietary assessment (analysis of your usual dietary intake) and anthropometric assessment (body composition measurements).
Clinical Assessment
Physical observation is a very important aspect of nutritional assessment as signs and symptoms of nutritional deficiency can be uncovered.
Biochemical Assessment
Pathology results can reveal overt nutritional deficiencies as well as suboptimal nutrient levels. They also give us a great insight as to how well the body is functioning in terms of thyroid, reproductive and adrenal health.
Dietary Assessment
Analysing a person's dietary intake can alert us to insufficient intake of certain nutrients that may be contributing to poor health. We use dietary analysis software which provides us with detailed reports which compare your current nutritional status to the Australian Nutrient Reference Values.
Body Composition Analysis
We use the VLA QUADSCAN machine, a body fat/lean analyser which is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods as a Medical Device. The test is quick, non-invasive and painless and involves attaching leads to the hand and foot.
Treatment we will then formulate a treatment plan for you, taking into account your lifestyle, finances and capabilities. It may involve nutritional supplementation, herbal medicine and lifestyle changes. We do our best to encourage and support you while making these changes.
Further consultations depend on the complexity of your health issues
